“I have worked most of my career as a RN in emergency services and I always envisioned my career as an NP would follow suit. As a new graduate NP, I was given the opportunity to begin my career as an Emergency Nurse Practitioner with Emergency Resource Group. I was beyond excited at this opportunity as well as anxious to begin my new career in the emergency department and begin my transition into the NP role. The tier program offered by Emergency Resources Group for new graduate APCs allowed me to safely and confidently make this transition into the role of an emergency medicine provider. The tier program offered by ERG provides the new graduate APC with the tools and resources to grow for an inexperienced new graduate into an experienced APC that is able to provide high quality and competent care to emergency patients off all ages with a variety of diseases processes in the urban and free standing emergency departments. The physicians and the APCs are always working in close collaboration to provide the best possible care to our patients. The tier program at ERG is an invaluable resource for the new graduate APC who would like to begin a career in emergency medicine and allows us to do so safely while learning our new role from our mentors. I have now been with ERG for 1 year as an APC and continue to grow and advance though their tier program. I would highly recommend this program to any new graduate APRN or PA that is looking to begin their career in emergency medicine.” April Clay, APRN, FNP-C, ENP-C

“Since joining ERG two and a half years ago, I have been very happy with my experience and grateful for being given this opportunity.  The Tier program has helped me grow as a PA, I have continued to gain not only clinical knowledge, but also confidence as a provider.  I’ll be honest, it was a very rocky state.  Being the first APC to start in the Baptist system, many physicians looked to me to explain my role and how the physician-APC partnership worked.  As I was new to the PA profession, I was just learning myself.  The program was still new and was constantly being adjusted as new obstacles arose or we just found better ways of working together.  Flexibility is a key trait for an APC.  I was fortunate to work with many physicians at North who were patient with me, and when we had time, taught me how to use the EMR, critique my charting, and most importantly share their clinical knowledge.  It has been such a wonderful experience watching ERG evolve from a group that was generally hesitant to work with APCs to welcoming us and regularly voicing their appreciation of us.  To see our shifts extending to so many campuses is encouraging, As I watch how the new grad program has evolved, I envy the new hires because they have a well-structured introductory Tier 1 where they get a much more personalized training period.  I think the Tier program is a great opportunity for new grade to get on the job training.  In PA school, they told us we would gain most of our real clinical knowledge once we stared working.  I was lucky to be able to work in the setting of my choice and in an environment that allowed time to learn the skills and knowledge to build my confidence as a PA.  The Tier program is a great opportunity for any new grad wanting to work in emergency medicine and I hope to see the demand for APCs continue to grow within our group.” Stephanie Lamm, PA-C
